June 10-11-12th! First SES CAMPING Trip of the
year! We’ve already reserved 2 spots (2 RVs and 4 tents) at Gerald
Freeman Campground (Sutton Lake) as we’ve had many SES Camping Trips there!
Next to the lake, Pontoon & Fishing boat rentals, fish from the shore, walking
trails. But the BEST part is sitting around the campfire and our FOOD!
Right now, estimated price is no more than $40 per person which includes your
camping spot for 2 nights and 5 meals (our Breakfasts are awesome!). Will
have a Dessert Contest on Sat night, Best decorated tent (or RV ) for “Flag Day”
to show your Spirit. Both contests will have prizes and certificate!
Cornhole, Badminton, LCR, Cards and if someone has horseshoes, bring them, etc.
as well. If you are interested, need to let Connie or Nancy know asap so
we will know if we have to reserve more spots. If you want to go camping,
but don’t have a tent, we may be able to help. We’ve had some folks just
sleep in their cars as they enjoy the relaxation, food and fun we have on these

All you have to
bring is your own drinks (but we will provide coffee for breakfast).
Friday evening: Bar-B-Qs, Baked Beans, Pasta Salad, Weiner Roast & Smores;
Sat Breakfast Personalized Omelets, Bacon or Sausage, Biscuits; Lunch Ham & Cheese Sandwiches,
chips, watermelon, etc., Sat dinner: still working on, looking at rib-eyes, ribs, shish-ka-bobs or
something special; Night Dessert Contest, Sunday
breakfast French Toast with sausage or bacon, etc.
Gerald Freeman Campground is nestled in the headwaters of Sutton Lake in central West Virginia. The 159-site campground has shower houses, launch ramps, playgrounds, and a marina with a snack bar. Sutton Lake and the adjoining Elk River Wildlife Management Area offers visitors over 20,000 acres of forests and fields, and 1,440 acres of water for boating and biking, swimming and skiing, hiking and hunting, fishing and frolicking, resting and relaxing. Wildlife is abundant and fish are plentiful! Local attractions include a riding stable, canoe livery, outlet mall, and a bowling alley. Pets are permitted in the campground, but they must be controlled/ restricted by the owner on a leash no longer than six feet. State law requires children 14 and under to wear a helmet while riding bicycles. For safety, lights must be operated on bicycles from sunset to sunrise.

Approximately 70 miles north of Charleston, WV, and 60 miles south of Clarksburg, WV. On I-79, take Exit 67 (Flatwoods Exit) to SR 4. Turn right on SR 4 and go 1 mile - Go Mart on the Corner. Turn left on SR 15 and follow 12 miles to Gerald Freeman Campground.

Fishing - lots of places to catch the big FISH!! - Fishing Sutton Lake
Fishermen find bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish plentiful in the lake. The Elk River below the dam is well known for muskie and walleye fishing, and trout are stocked in the Down Stream Area in the spring and fall. A handicap accessible fishing pier has been constructed at the Downstream Area to offer easier access to the quality fishing below the dam. Of course, you do not have to be a fisherman to enjoy the natural beauty on and around Sutton Lake. Sportsmen are required to have a West Virginia hunting and/or fishing license.
